Champions League Group C – Preview

Group C is a fairly balanced group in which anyone can potentially survive the Champions League group stage. Manchester City is considered the clear favourite, however, 2nd place is very interesting, especially Olympique Marseille has high chances.

Let’s get to the key facts:

Manchester City:

Manchester City is the biggest contender for the title behind the Bavarians, and Kevin De Bruyne in particular could bring Pep Guardiola closer to the title, which is currently in world-class form. Aguero is coming back after a long injury and will raise the level of play again.

Porto is a very interesting team, the team from Portugal is good for a surprise year after year. I am personally particularly looking forward to seeing Marega, whose physical qualities could challenge the defenders.

Olympique Marseille:

Olympique Marseille has been running behind expectations for years, it’s just not working. A team made up of many difficult characters, which, despite its potential, simply can’t do what is needed. Florian Thauvin, who is probably one of the club’s most dangerous goalkeepers, should be kept in mind.

As every year, the Greeks are unpredictable. Despite a smaller transfer budget, the Greeks are known for their combative style of play. Especially Valbuena, who was a French national player until the blackmail scandal, is interesting. He has a very fine right foot and will most likely take the leading roles in the attack.

Players in focus:

Due to their playing skills I consider the standard shooters to be extremely good picks, especially Payet and Valbuena stand out due to their outstanding footballing abilities.

I personally think that Group C is extremely competitive and everyone can hope to survive the Champions League group stage. The Porto penalty kicker, who has been Alex Telles up to now, could also be interesting. I suspect that Goalgetter Marega will take over, but this is only a guess so far.
