Champions League Group E – Preview

Group E tends to be one of the rather weaker groups, especially Rennes, the Champions League is probably less likely, but the young team should definitely be on the screen.

Chelsea FC:

Chelsea is considered the group’s favourite, but winning the Champions League is considered less realistic. However, Chelsea upgraded very strongly, so Chelsea is certainly in for a surprise.

Rennes is already the surprise, hardly anyone expected to participate in the Champions League. Stade Rennes has been doing outstanding youth work for years, now it will show to what extent this has borne fruit so far.

FC Sevilla:

The Europa League winner will once again be allowed to attack in the Champions League, Sevilla is considered a secret favourite for me, because they have been showing a consistently good performance for years, so I expect you to have a good chance of getting very far this year.

Founded in 2008, the club is now known to many football fans, Krasnodar is always good for a surprise. Krasnodar is the clear underdog in the group, but I think the Russians have a good chance.

Best Picks:

Personally I think everyone has a chance to get ahead, Stade Rennes could be especially surprising. Rennes is currently doing outstanding scouting and youth work, and with the transfer of Jeremy Doku they have very probably signed one of the next world stars – he could carry Rennes through the group stage.

Sevilla is the “Europa League team”, they could name the cup after them, they perform so consistently in this one. Besides Ocampos, I find the personalities of Ivan Rakitic particularly interesting, as he can definitely shine through his qualities as a standard shooter.

Chelsea has been busy shopping, so many surprises are possible. I personally think Tammy Abraham is the best pick in the blues, as he is the best striker in the squad in my opinion. Besides Tammy Abraham, I think Jorginho is a very solid pick in the Blues as he takes the penalties.

Krasnodar is a wonder bag for me, I would tend to recommend a fade, but with Cabella and Suleymanov you already have 2 very strong offensive players who could help Krasnodar through the group.

These are my thoughts about group E, I don’t think that this group is a candidate for the Champions League final, but I believe in surprises like Ajax did.
